Has the NHS given up on dentistry?

Placed by : Looking for Dental
22-10-2007

A survey last week revealed that 78 per cent of people in the UK cannot find an NHS dentist to carry out essential dental work. Many of these people cannot afford to have the work done privately.

Some resort to DIY dentristy, others pay thousands of pounds to go private, and there are those who are forced to travel abroad for affordable treatment.

Has the NHS effectively given up on dentistry for the general public? Could the government do more to encourage dentists to work for the NHS?

Or is it time to turn your back on British dentistry and look for affordable treatment abroad?
